About Us

WHY SHOULD I........

As our membership grows our organization becomes stronger. As union men and women we should all know of the struggles of our individual locals in both the job market and in the political arena. We know three things that people fight most about in this world are religion, politics and money.

Our goal, is to come together as a collective force. A unified coalition of skilled tradesmen, talented artisans, brave service persons and dedicated educators to create positive change in our communities.

Not too long ago the word "UNION" was met with admiration, dignity and pride and that was from the outside looking in. We know our own esteem remains true, yet somewhere we seem to have taken a hit when it comes to public opinion. We can't sit and stew and point fingers at our on lookers because as the old saying goes "...there is always three fingers pointing back at you".

Let us take those indicting fingers and create a "fist of solidarity" that we can once again raise with pride. Let MDUM be that fist that we are willing to extend out as a "helping hand" to our local unions and our community.

By signing up to be a member of MDUM you add strength to our cause. As our membership grows and our message and mission is put into action, people will take notice. We can let the public know we are still here and we will remain. We can remind the masses that unionism is right because we have and always will take care of our own.

In these times of economic hardships, corporate bailouts and golden umbrellas, our rank and file press on to provide quality training, unmatched craftmanship and service all the while with the hopes of securing a future of prosperity for our families. In fact, isn't that what this country is based on?

"If capitalism is fair then unionism must be. If men have a right to capitalize their ideas

and the resources of their country, then that implies the right of men to capitalize their

labor."

Frank Lloyd Wright

By joining MDUM you become a part of a movement for social change and a shift in public opinion. We know for a fact that we can't count on politicians an policy makers to make a change in that matter. We need to do it for ourselves. Join us today, visit our website often and bring others to our cause. As we grow we can then go out into the community and speak with business owners and lend them our support in exchange for their support of us. Let us gain back what those before us lost. We can only do this together, and together MDUM and you can have a lasting impact on the lives of UNION men and women in this state. "Ask not what your union can do for you, but what can you do for your union".

Fraternally yours,

MDUM
